Restoring health and hope…

a holistic approach.

Individuals & Couples Therapy

Hello and welcome. Making the decision to try therapy requires courage, bravery, and intentionality.  For some it may be a difficult to take that step.  I understand because I have been there.  Yet the help I have received from therapy throughout my life journey has impacted me so positively and motivated me to become a therapist myself.  I respect you for taking the step toward the path of health and I would consider it a privilege to walk beside you in your own process of healing. Small steps are still progress.

As a counselor, my approach is grounded in holistic healing, which means that I focus on the interconnectedness of the mind, body, and spirit in the therapy process. I believe that true healing comes from addressing all aspects of a person's well-being, not just their mental or emotional state. By incorporating techniques such as mindfulness, body awareness, and overall wellness practices, I strive to guide clients toward a more balanced and integrated sense of self.

Central to my counseling approach is the concept of client-centered therapy, where I prioritize creating a safe, non-judgmental space for clients to explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. My desire is for you to feel accepted and comfortable sharing.  I firmly believe that individuals can uncover their own solutions and that my role is to provide support and guidance along their personal journey.

The therapeutic relationship is very important to me. I prioritize building a strong and trusting connection with each client, as I understand that it is within this relationship that transformative healing occurs. By fostering an environment of trust, empathy, and collaboration, I aim to empower clients to navigate their challenges and discover their own resilience.

A bit about my therapy style…

Setting and working towards meaningful, attainable goals is an essential aspect of my counseling style. I collaborate with you to identify and prioritize your therapeutic goals, providing you with the tools and support necessary to achieve these objectives. Through this process, you will gain a sense of agency and direction, leading to tangible and sustainable progress in your personal growth and well-being. We will often revisit goals and adjust where needed. Some of the tools I might use to help you achieve your goals are journaling, books, podcasts, art, and mindfulness activities.  I also believe there isn’t a “one size fits all” approach to helping clients, so I work hard to get know you and try to find a style that work best for you.

A bit about me…

I became a professional therapist later in life, although I have been a counselor in other arenas for many years. After teaching for several years, I focused on raising my three kids and mentoring teens, young adults, and women in different seasons of life.  For a short time, I had a catering and design business.  The professional and personal life experiences I bring to counseling are 28 years of marriage, teaching, parenting, grief and loss of friends and family members, trauma, a personal quest for meaning and purpose, life transitions and volunteer opportunities including mentoring, leading small groups, and spiritual direction.  Click on “About Me” to learn more.
